Youth Workers

The Youth Workers at Suffolk Young People's Health Project are here to provide a wide range of services and support for young people. Whatever your needs we’ll do what we can to help, and if we can’t help directly, we’ll find someone who can. Maybe you’re having trouble finding accommodation or in need of advice with finding a job, or with sexual health. Maybe things are getting on top of you and you could use a caring, listening ear. Or maybe, all you want is to get involved in some fun activities, meet new people or hang out with friends. Whatever your needs, the Youth Workers are here to listen without judging and will help in whatever way we can.

Below is a list of some of our services and activities.

Cooking group:

Come in & learn to cook under the guidance of our trained chef! This is a small, easy-going group that meets every Wednesday (5.45pm-8pm)

Thursday drop-in:

We run a range of activities on Thursday and all are welcome to join in. Past sessions have included: sign language, samba drumming, art projects and discussion groups (Thurs 6pm-8pm)

Allotment:

Have you got green fingers? Maybe you don’t know one end of a carrot from the other! Whatever, if you have an interest in being outdoors and growing things, you’d be very welcome to join our allotment project. Times vary but we usually meet on Sunday afternoons.

Saturday Girls group:

This is group for girls with learning difficulties. We run various sessions on and off site including: cooking, art, cinema and meals out. We can only run this session once a month unfortunately, but are looking to expand in the future. Please phone for dates/times.

Refugee/asylum seeker group:

This is a session run at noon every Wednesday for young asylum seekers and refugees who like to meet and socialise, and to improve the knowledge of English language and culture. (Weds 12pm-2pm)

There are various other activities that take place throughout the year – all of which you are welcome to take part in. If you want information for these, or anything else that we do, just walk in and ask – all our Youth Workers will be more than happy to help.
