The West Suffolk Older People’s Panel (Voice) is a unique
project, set up to help influence health and social care services
for older people. People are interviewed individually in their own
homes, with time to give their thoughts and opinions on various
matters proposed by a reference group, comprising members of the
Suffolk PCT, Adult Care Services, Age Concern, Hospital Services
and a representative from older people themselves.
To date the panel have completed ten questions each with its own
report. If you are unable to view a copy of the report from our
website, please email us at
office@ageconcernsuffolk.org.uk
and we will supply you with a copy.
Some examples are:-
What Shall I Do Today? - Planning For Day Time Activities For
Older People Panel members give their views on what activities and
services they would like to see provided at day care centres. Click

tenth report
Age Discrimination – Affecting Older People The results
of this work show that older peoples perception is that they
have not been discriminated against in the social care, health and
voluntary services. However, their comments contained in the report
indicate that there is discrimination, but they are not aware of
it. Click here to view a copy of the
sixth
report.
End of life choices This report produced interesting
results. Panel members talked about their knowledge of what was
available to them, should they have a life threatening illness, and
what sort of choices they may make in those circumstances. Click
here to view a copy of the
ninth report.
More information on this subject is contained within
Age Concern Information Sheet 5.
Individual Budgets asked our panel for their views of the
system of allocating resources to people who need support, which is
known as the Resource Allocation System or Individual Budgets.
