Elizabeth Perryman
Hi! My name is Liz and I live in Stutton. Originally I come
from Scotland and moved around the country with my family as my
Parents were Salvation Army Officers (Ordained Ministers) serving
in the S.A. Social Services Dept. I was so interested in their work
with Homeless and vulnerable people that I wanted to do a similar
work myself. After school I pursued training in Psychiatric
Nursing, so that I could learn about various issues that some
people had and how to help, I then got a Job with the Salvation
Army and was trained in Social care and in Welfare rights. I have
experience and training in helping people of all ages, but I have
special expertise in training people how to survive independency
after living unsettled lives and coming out of institutional living
eg: people coming out of Prison, Long term Hospital, Violent
marriages/relationships, Hostels/care and Armed Forces etc.
Originally it was called 'Deinstitutionalisation' which is such a
huge mouthful and was later to be called 'resettlement,'
for which I wrote a training manual, mainly for various
organisations to take ideas from, and adapt for every individual
person. It was never intended to be a rule book but just some ideas
to be adapted as people are not text books, they are individuals. I
am a big believer that people should be as independent as they can
or want to be.
I first got involved with the Tenants Forum after a talk with two
members that came to my village to tell us about the Forum. I am
really keen on the work that the Forum does as this helps people
who rent their property have a voice.
I love Music, writing short stories, watching cartoons, writing
poetry and also working on my computer, hopefully I will get better
on my computer, but for that to happen I think I will have to
obtain a little more patience and keep working at it!
Anyway, this is me, and if you wish to contact me my email is
