The Bardwell Playing Field Association was formed in 1965 to provide recreational facilities. Funds were raised and grants obtained to purchase the present field. The Association became a registered charity and volunteers changed the agricultural field into a playing field which was officially opened in1969. This was an excellent facility with football pitches, a tennis court, pavilion and children’s playground area. Over the years various improvements have been made and a modern multi games area replaced the tennis court in June 2004.
