There are several regular events taking place in Barking and these include the Summer Fair on the Tye (every other year)*, a very well attended Firework Display on the Tye in November and in December Christmas parties for the younger and more senior parishioners. There are many other events which are organised by the Community Council and these are advertised in the Community Council’s quarterly Newsletter and also in the Four Parishes Newsletter which is delivered monthly, except January, to most households in the village. Full details of the recent and forthcoming events can be found by following the link to the relevant page on this website.
The Village Hall is managed and maintained by the Village Hall Management Committee. Full details of the Village Hall and it’s facilities can be found by following the link to the relevant page on this website.
The list of clubs and organisations shown on this website draws attention to the many and varied activities taking place in and around the village. All these organisations welcome new members. It is hoped that this website may be of use to all residents in Barking and Darmsden, and especially to newcomers to our community.

Emergency Snowline
Suffolk County Council has arranged a Emergency Snowline telephone number for the weekend. Please can I ask that you share this with as many people as possible.

Hotline for cold weather
The weather is forecast to remain extremely cold over the coming days so Suffolk County Council will extend its usual customer service helpline to operate over the weekend.
The Emergency Snowline will respond to calls from the public on issues relating to the weather, anyone having difficulty accessing services on their usual numbers could also use this number if they are concerned. Staff on this number will be able to deal with calls related to the current weather conditions such as social care and highways.
Operators will have access to other agencies such as district and borough councils, the police and the health authority if necessary.
The number is 08456 037686 and will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 8pm.
