Notice Board
For local information, there is a notice board to the front of
Barking Village Hall plus one inside the Village Hall foyer.
Telephone Kiosk
The telephone kiosk is to the front of the Village Hall. This is
a cashless payphone.
Emergency calls can still be made from this box, as can
freephone 0800 calls.
You can also use credit cards and debit cards! Telephone cards can
be purchased from Post Offices.
Post Boxes
There are 3 letter boxes in Barking – one on the Tye near the
junction with Willisham Road, one outside the village hall and one
outside Ashburnham Farm (set into the wall). There is no longer a
Sunday collection from the Tye. A further letter box can be found
in Somersham.

Play Areas
There is a play area on the Tye for children of all age
groups.
For 5 – 14 year olds. There is a multi-play unit to the rear of
the village hall.
There are full size goal posts at the top end of the Tye,
although the pitch is not marked out. There is a 5-a-side goal at
the other end of the Tye. There is also a play area at Needham
Lake.
Litter Bins / Dog Waste Bins
There are 4 litter bins on the Tye – one at each corner.

green, 2 red).
Recycling
There are three bottle banks in the car park to the front of
Barking Village Hall, and a clothing bank (shoes are acceptable as
well as curtains, etc) All items are to be put in
plastic bags please. There is also a waste paper bank for
newspapers, magazines (incl telephone directories) and shredded
paper. Shredded paper to be put in loose please. There is a Council
Household Waste & Recycling site in Stowmarket and another in
Bramford (on the road between Somersham and Bramford). Bottle,
waste paper & clothing banks to rear of Council Offices,
Needham Market.
All monies received for recycled material goes to Barking Village
Hall.

Twin Bins Collection
Dates
Both Barking and Darmsden have two wheelie bins, green lid for
recycling and black lid for refuse destined for land fill.
Collections in both Barking & Darmsden are very early on
Friday morning (approx 7am), so you need to put your wheelie out
late on Thursday night. Please do not leave the bins out longer
than is necessary. During Bank Holiday weeks, collection is usually
one day later (Saturday mornings).

of compostable waste) are now being trialled by Mid Suffolk
District Council. These are available from MSDC for a small annual
