The Group was set up by Margaret Page in October, 2002. The idea
was to provide a local facility giving encouragement to anyone
interested in starting, or enhancing their art skills.
Margaret, although not a qualified teacher, is a successful
local artist in her own right, and has learnt various techniques by
attending numerous courses with such artists as Ian King (Anglia TV
series), Michael Chaplin (from Channel 4’s Watercolour Challenge),
Hazel Soan (Anglia TV series) and Anthony Osler, the marine
artist.
Margaret provides guidance, ideas, enthusiasm and great
encouragement to those attending.

Work is mainly in watercolours with a very wide variety of
subjects covered, including landscapes, seascapes, buildings and
gardens. Some members do their own thing and prepare paintings
for
future exhibitions. Several members have since exhibited and sold
their work at local exhibitions.
The Group has a core of 16 members (there is a waiting list). It
meets in Barking Village Hall on Monday afternoons, from 2pm – 4pm
from September to Easter.
Fees are currently £2 per session per member.

The Art
group enjoyed an afternoon at Mulletts Farm, Buxhall.
Despite the unkind weather and for many of the group it was
their
first experience of painting 'on location'. All enjoyed the chance
to
do this and the group thanks John Biles, a group member, for his
invitation to visit his farm.
