Barking Community Council is made up of approx. 12 volunteers
from the village who, with the valuable help of a number of
supporters, organises social and recreational events and activities
throughout the year. Village Hall events include Summer and
Winter Suppers, Games Evenings, Murder Mystery evenings, Themed
evenings, a Childrens Christmas Party and the Inter Village
Quiz.
Outdoor events include the bi-ennial Village Fair , Car Treasure
Hunt, the Village Bonfire, Fireworks and BBQ and quarterly Village
Breakfast Walks. Its' aims are to try and involve/support the
whole community. Monies raised at events help to finance the
Childrens Christmas Parties, the firework
display and some of the upgrades and maintenance required at the
Village Hall. It has also supported local
groups/organisations in times of hardship.

Community Council AGM
This meeting was held on Friday 15th April 2011, at
7.30pm in the Village Hall.
This was an opportunity for all villagers to come
along and find out what activities/events took place during the
past 12 months and what future activities/events are planned.
Community Council Chairman's Report 2010/2011
Community Council Chairmans Report
2010/2011
2010 was a Fair year so much
of the Summer was taken up with preparations, culminating in
another successful event, so thanks to all who helped before and
after as well as on the day.
Throughout the rest of the year we organised some of our usual
events such as the Summer and Winter Suppers, as well as a Spanish
themed meal with a quiz. November meant the bonfire and although
the day saw persistent rain we gambled with the weather and
everything went ahead but it was a close thing.
First Fridays continue to be popular and also provided the end of
year celebrations which was a success thanks to Rosemary and Mabs
and their helpers.
We also took our turn at hosting the Inter-village quiz but despite
the best efforts of a makeshift team, we only came second to
Needham even though we provided the quiz master!
An innovation this year has been the free regular Film Night on the
third Tuesday of every month. Thanks to the Dalby family for their
hard work in getting it off the ground and continuing to run it.
Although the numbers attending have not been great, we will
continue the programme for the foreseeable future.
The Murder Mystery Evening made a welcome return in March with a
‘mediEVIL’ theme and thanks go to Shaun for his script, to Mike and
Margaret for yet another superb set and to Martyn and his catering
team as well as the usual suspects who included one or two new
faces.
We now look forward to another Scarecrow Week and Wartime themed
meal where we will be entertained by our own Community Choir whose
rehearsals continue to be well supported.
As usual, I must again thank the committee who do the hard work and
all the villagers who continue to support us, long may it
continue.
