Our Progress
2008 - We have been concentrating on finding land for our woodland, but so far have not found anywhere suitable.

October 2007 - Pupils from Barnby & North Cove Primary School took part in our third seed planting session. Class 1 collected acorns, conkers, sweet chestnuts and field maple "helicopters" and planted them in the tree nursery. Class 2 weeded the previously planted areas and mulched them with straw.

February 2007 - We organised a tree planting session for the children in Class 1. Eleven oak trees were planted in Green Lane, Barnby.

Replacing a damaged whiteabeamFebruary 2007 - We planted a Whitebeam in The Street, North Cove to replace a damaged one.

January 2007 - We replaced a dead yew tree in North Cove Church graveyard with one which a steering group member had grown in his garden.

November 2006 - We held our second seed collection and planting session with children from Class 1 at Barnby and North Cove Primary School.

September 2006 - We had a stall at the Barnby & North Cove Late Summer Fete. we displayed information about our group as well as running two games - the Chocolate Tree Game proved very popular!

July.2006 - We held a very successful Fundraising Evening

We have acquired an Allotment which we are using to plant out pot-grown trees and those that have grown too large for the tree nursery.

Willow weaving on the GLT Training DayIn February 2006, four members of our steering group attended a Green Light Trust training day - "Leading a Woodland Work Party" - a very informative and enjoyable event including hands-on experience of tree planting, willow weaving and coppicing which will be very useful when we have our own woodland to manage.
