Who May Use the Service?
Anyone young or old, able bodied or infirm may ask to make
certain journeys for which neither a family car nor any form of
suitable transport is available.
What Journeys are Eligible?
- Local Shopping and personal business.
- Visiting friends and relatives at home or in hospital.
- Link with the nearest public transport services.

Who Provides the
Cars?
Volunteers provide and drive their own cars on a non-profit
making basis and are paid only the running costs.
Who Pays?
Passengers contribute on a mileage basis, commencing from the
driver’s home.
Many journeys undertaken by BACT are subsidised by Norfolk and
Suffolk County Council.
How do I arrange a
Journey?
By contacting our organiser, by
phone

Monday – Friday 9am –
4.30pm
At other times you can leave a message on the answer machine and we
will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively, drop
into our office at:
The Riverside Centre, The Staithe, Bungay,
Suffolk, NR35 1BF
Can We Always Help?
We want to help out with all reasonable travel requests and will
do our best to help you, but our ability to do this depends upon
the availability of our volunteer drivers and the volume of
requests that we receive. Giving us plenty of notice (at least
48hrs) is always the best policy.
If in doubt, give us a ring and ask if we can help.
Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle
We also have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
This provides door to door
rural transport for those without the use of a car and unable to
use public transport. The vehicle seats up to 5 passengers or 3
plus a wheelchair.
Wheelchairs are safely strapped in by our trained drivers and
passenger assistants using a four-point harness system.
This service is provided entirely by volunteers so each journey
is dependent upon a driver being available.
Costs
Passengers contribute on a mileage basis, as for the community
car service; the rates dependent on the eligibility of the
journey.
Booking
A minimum notice of 48 hours is required to book the
vehicle.
