(Report received on the 20 April 2009)

The Club’s AGM was held on March 24th in the Village Hall. All of the members of the Committee were re-elected en bloc. Roy Petts was re-elected as Winter league captain, and Pam Rayment and Margaret Blackmore were re-elected as joint Summer league captains. Christine Petts and Jill Mills are to be responsible for friendlies.

Congratulations must go to all our players for their efforts during the season, which resulted in winning the league by 4 points from our friends and rivals – ‘Harkstead’.
Members will be attending the finals day at the Needham Market leisure on May 24th to receive their trophies. Playing in a higher league will provide us with many hard games during the next Winter season, but also a challenge we are looking forward to.

Recently, we played ‘Tattingstone’- away in the first half of the Cynthia Page Cup, which they won by 5 – 3.

(Report received 18 March 2009)

At the end of February, four of our members travelled to Stutton to play in the 'Fours' Tournament – held in aid of their Village Hall funds. Bill, the two Veronicas, and Margaret started well with two 13-3 wins over Chelmondiston and Holbrook, but lost to Stutton ‘B’ 6-4 and to the eventual winners, Stutton 'A' 10-0, but a very enjoyable afternoon’s bowling nonetheless.

In early March, Roy & Christine Petts, and David & Veronica Howe participated in the 'Suffolk Fours Tournament' held at East Bergholt. The first match against Bergholt was won by 9 shots to 4 followed by an excellent win against the current holders of the title - Barking, by 9 – 6. However, disappointment was to follow, as despite being level on the final ends, both the remaining matches against Hundon and Burstall were finally lost. Nevertheless, a very encouraging performance in what proved to be a very competitive day’s bowling.

Our most recent league matches resulted in a stunning 9 – 1 home win over Stratford-St-Mary, and a 10 – 0 away win over Tattingstone, which keeps our hopes of promotion alive.

On Sunday 25th January we held our Annual Singles Competition when most of our club members participated. Roy & Christine Petts organised the event which was run in four sections of seven ends, with everyone playing three games.

The final was played between David Howe & Pam Rayment with David claiming victory.

The shield was presented to him by Roy Petts – Captain of the 'winter league'.

Everyone expressed their thanks to Roy & Christine for organising the event, and also to Margaret & Veronica for providing the lunch – a most enjoyable day.
