DANGER Narrow C Classified Road
THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON THE C426 ! .
Once again the Copdock Mill Interchange became blocked and once again large HGVs tried to escape the congestion by using a very NARROW C Class Road.  There are a number of places along the C426 from the A12 through to the A137 where the bends can catch out the unsuspecting motorist.  The road is also very narrow in many places which makes it very difficult, if not impossible, for large (over 7.5 Tonne) vehicles and HGVs to pass.

The approach to the Village sign from the A12 heading towards Tattingstone and the A137

(This area has seen a few cars turn over due to the adverse camber - the SLOW sign is there for a very good reason!)

DangerousCorner2

The bend a short distance further on towards the A137 is 'blind' with no room for two large vehicles to pass easily.

Please take extra care here!

TAKE EXTRA CARE HERE!!!

DANGEROUS JUNCTION
DangerousCorner3

The C426 - C424 East Bergholt Road junction is a very dangerous junction.

It is 'blind' as you can see for motorists coming from the C424 onto the C426.

It is also 'blind' for motorists heading towards the camera position from the A137 at Tattingstone.
(Please see the next picture.)

DangerousCornerinvisiblejunction

Where is the junction?

(It's round the corner on the left but you can't see it - the car in the above picture would not be visible - 30 MPH seems to be far too fast here!)

Accidents have happend here but so far thankfully none have been serious!

Surely a mini roundabout would aid traffic safety in this location!

DangerousCorner4

Moving slightly further along the C426 towards Tattingstone there is another 'blind' corner near the Village Hall.

Please slow down and watch out for pedestrians crossing to go to the Hall and for vehicles coming out of West Mill Green on the left.

DangerousSectionStationHill1

Moving along the C426 towards Tattingstone there is very narrow section near the level crossing - please slow down and watch out for oncoming vehicles as you will not be able to pass each other.

(Drivers of very low vehicles beware - You may scrape the bottom of your car because the level crossing is not 'level' due to requirements of the 'high speed' Inter-City trains.)

DangerousSectionStationHill2

The hill travelling towards Tattingstone after the railway crossing is also very narrow - take care here!

(Note the broken down banks where larger vehicles have had difficulty passing each other!)

Isn't it now time for the NARROW C426 Road through Bentley to be given the Weight restriction the Parish Council have, over many, many years, campaigned for?

FINALLY - TAKE EXTRA CARE HERE!!!

DangerousCorner5

The junction with the A137 can be very dangerous.

Watch out for motorists, travelling from Manningtree towards Ipswich because your view of them is very restricted due to the hedge as shown in the picture.

If they are approaching the juction doing in excees of the 30 MPH speed limit you may not see them when you pull out!

Unfortunatey there have been a number of accidents at this junction but still no 'Safety Cameras' have been installed.

Finally watch out for drivers coming from Ipswich who, though there are continuous white lines, have actually been seen overtaking cars turning into Tattingstone!
