Driving along the C426
<< Back
There
are a number of places along the C426 from the A12 through to the A137 where the bends can catch out the unsuspecting motorist. The road is also very narrow in many places which makes it very difficult, if not impossible, for HGVs to pass.
<< Back
The approach from the A12
(This area has seen a few cars turn over due to the camber - the SLOW sign is there for a very good reason!)
The bend a short distance further on is 'blind' with no room for two large vehicles to pass easily - please take extra care here!

TAKE EXTRA CARE HERE!!!
The C426 - C424 East Bergholt Road junction is a very dangerous junction.
It is 'blind' as you can see for motorists coming from the C424 onto the C426.
It is also 'blind' for motorists heading towards the camera position from the A137 at Tattingstone. (see next picture)
Where is the junction?
(It's round the corner on the left but you can't see it - the car in the above picture would not be visible - 30 MPH seems to be far too fast here!)
Access from Link Lane onto the C46 looking towards Capel St Mary
Access from Link Lane onto the C426 looking towards Tattingstone
Moving slightly further along the C426 towards Tattingstone there is another 'blind' corner near the Village Hall - please slow down and watch out for:
Pedestrians crossing and Vehicles coming out of West Mill Green
Finally the junction with the A137 can be very dangerous.
Watch out
for motorists, travelling from Manningtree towards Ipswich especially if they are approaching the juction doing in excees of the 30 MPH speed limit. Your view of them is very restricted due to the hedge - as you can see from the picture!!!
