LAST
REPORT for 2010 - REPORT RECEIVED by e-mail on 15 January
2011:
During December, we held our Christmas lunch at the
‘Bramford Cock’ when 45 members had a very enjoyable lunch –
Bill and his Staff always makes us most welcome. We concluded
the year with our usual Christmas party when everyone brings
along presents for each other, and a draw is also held. We
were entertained by `The Phoenix Handbell Ringers’ playing a
selection of Carols and later, some members had the
opportunity of attempting to play
them!
We commenced the New Year with our Annual General Meeting, when
various items were discussed, and proposals and amendments made to
the cost of subscriptions and outings. The afternoon concluded with
light refreshments followed by games of whist, scrabble, and the
draw.
Copies of the 2011 Programme were handed out – covering a wide
variety of talks, entertainment, together with sessions of chair
aerobics, cards & scrabble during the
year.
As always, new members are always welcome – contact 310655 for more
details, or see the diary of events as listed in the front of the
‘Bugle’.
N.B. Members are planning to knit hats/gloves/scarves to
help fill shoe boxes for the ‘Operation Christmas Child Appeal’
again this year, and subsequently, if you have any spare double
knitting wool – we would love to hear from you to support this most
worthwhile Charity!

November 2010:
Dennis Maisey paid us a
return visit in October, & entertained us playing his
Ukulele,
Guitar, and singing familiar songs – a very enjoyable
afternoon.
During November, Patsy Dearing demonstrated how simple flower
arranging can be by making a number of arrangements including ones
with a Pumpkin and a Candle. She brought a variety of foliage and
spray chrysanthemums, and finally, members had the opportunity to
show their skills with even the male members joining in!!
Linda Scoles, an American now living in Suffolk, came and gave us a
most humorous talk
entitled `God Rest Ye Merry` (really disastrous Christmas gifts) –
a real tonic for a winters` afternoon. Also in November, `Bettacare
Shoes` brought a selection of shoes, slippers etc. for members to
purchase and we also enjoyed a session of chair aerobics, cards
& scrabble.
Once again, we filled a number of shoe boxes for the `Samaritans
Purse`and thanks to all the members who knitted hats & gloves
and supplied items for this good cause.
With Christmas fast approaching we now look forward to our lunch at
the `Bramford Cock` on the 7th December, and our party on the 14th
December when we welcome the `Phoenix Handbell Ringers`. We have a
full programme organised for next year starting with our AGM on the
11th January.
A Very Happy Christmas and
New Year to all our members and
friends.

REPORT:
(Supplied by e-mail - received on
the 15 September
2010)
Our
programme in August, apart from cards & scrabble, included a
most interesting and fascinating talk by Jenny Gibbs on `Rural Life
in Turkey`. After a short holiday there initially, she suddenly
decided this was where she wanted to live & subsequently bought
an old farmhouse which needed renovation. She now spends the Summer
months here in England and the rest of the year in Turkey. She also
brought us a selection of lace goods and pashminos for members to
buy.
The highlight
in September was our last outing of the Summer when we travelled by
coach up into Norfolk. This took us to the Ferry House pub right on
the River Yare at Surlingham, where members enjoyed a delicious
lunch. From there, the boat picked us up for a two hour trip on the
Broads together with a commentary by the skipper on the history of
the area and places of interest we passed. The weather was kind to
us and everyone enjoyed the day.
October will see the return of Dennis Maisey who will entertain us
with his ukulele and in November, Patsy Dearing will be giving us a
flower arranging display. `Bettacare Shoes` will be visiting us at
2.30pm on the 16th for members to purchase their winter
shoes, slippers & handbags. We conclude our programme for the
month with a talk entitled `God Rest Ye Merry` by Linda Scoles. As
always, our meetings are open to anyone who might be interested in
joining the Club.
Members please
note:

REPORT:
(Supplied by e-mail - received on the 02 July
2010)
During the
month of June we have had a session of Chair Aerobics and the usual
Cards & Scrabble. On the afternoon of the 15th Chris Finbow
came and gave us a most interesting `Journey around Britain` with
slides and appropriate music and a short narrative about the
various locations. As everyone enjoyed this we are hoping he will
come again next year to continue this `Journey`.
On the 13th July we are looking forward to our Garden Party at
Peggy & Michael’s and hoping that we will enjoy some proper
Summer weather!
Just to remind members that we hold a sales table at every meeting
and welcome items for this – clothes, paperbacks, jigsaws, produce,
etc.
