Blaxhall Parish Council

Blaxhall Parish Council consist of nine Councillors , Mr Borrett, Mr Bowles, Mr Dunnett (Chairman),Mrs Gash,Mrs Leeks, Dr Smedley, Mr Suckling and ,Mr West Mrs Iszard as Clerk.
 
Meetings are held in the Village hall on the 1st Wednesday of   the month, with additional meetings as the need arises. The meetings are open to the public and press, there's always 15minute public speaking time on the agenda at the start of each one.

The Parish Council are the Trustees of the Village Hall, which is run as a charity, with a working committee made up of parishioners and councillors. The Playing Field is also run with a similar committee.

Blaxhall Parish Council are the official owners of Blaxhall Common (or Heath) which is a designated SSSI  and has been so for nearly twenty years. The Common makes up part of the Sandlands that follows the coast from Southwold in the north to Martlesham Heath  Ipswich to the south. On the common you will find Nightjars and Nightingales breeding in spring, also there are  Green Tiger beetles, Sand Wasps and others having adapted to the heath conditions, that without they would all die out..  Muntjac are solitary animals and can be found,  also to be found are Roe Deer roaming in herds.  The Heath used to be grazed by sheep but that has now become impractical, with modern living.


Parish Plan

In January 2003 the Parish Council held an open meeting inviting all village to attend, with their views and suggestions on the idea of a parish plan being funded by The Countryside Agency, after an informative talk by Annette Grey from Suffolk Acre a group of volunteers formed a committee and started work, under the chairmanship of Mr Mackenzie this was completed within 18 months, with the parish now owning a computer, printer, copier and digital camera.
