The Parish Council has been approached by the Parochial Church
Council with a proposal that could help make better use of the
church room as a village resource. The suggestion is that the
Parish Council could ‘lease’ the building, and it be managed as a
village hall (the main benefit being that grants and funding are
available to upgrade and improve village halls that are not
available to church-run properties). The proposal has merit,
not least that it could be an integral part in the formation of a
village plan, and a subgroup has therefore formed to investigate
the matter further. Guidance was sought from Suffolk ACRE, who
advised that such arrangements have been successfully implemented
elsewhere in Suffolk, and gave general guidelines as to the steps
required. Contact has been made with the Charity Commissioners, and
the next step is to form a management committee to take the process
forward.
