The Bramford Parish Plan was published in 2005. It represents the views of the villagers on such questions as social issues, amenities and design of new development.  It forms a vision of Bramford’s future.

Churchandriveraerialshot The plan incorporates the Village Design Statement which describes the visual character and qualities of Bramford and looks at ways of preserving, regenerating or enhancing the distinctive features and character of the village.

From these studies an Action Plan was prepared and is given at Appendix 1 of the Action Plan. An Action Group has now been set up to carry forward these action points.

If you want to view the plan then please click on the words 'Parish Plan' at the top of this screen. You will need Acrobat Reader to view the plan and this can be downloaded free by clicking on the icon below. Please note that the Plan can take some time to download on a dial up connection. Alternatively there is a text only version available for a faster download.

Project Status

The following is a summary of the key projects that the Action Group has been involved in so far:

Investigate the possibility of a new Community Centre (Project B3).
Following an investigation the Action Group recommended the refurbishment of the Loraine Victory Hall. A considerable amount of building, decorating and refurnishing has already been done to improve the hall. For more details click on 'Village hall' to the left on this page.

Purchase Gippingstone Road Car Park (Project A10).
The Parish Council has purchased the Gippingstone Road car park. The Action Group was able to support the decision based on responses from the Parish Plan questionnaire.

Improve delivery of Community Newsletter (Project A12).
We have been in touch with the publishers of the Community Newsletter and coverage has improved, although there are still some areas not fully covered. We will continue to monitor the situation.2008StreetFair

Organise a Village Activity Day (Project A5).
This project has already resulted in two great days for the village - ‘Bramford 4 U’ in 2006 and the Bramford Street Fair in 2008. Both highly successful fun days were held in The Street over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Many thanks to the organisers who worked so hard to make these days go as well as they did, and the Parish Council for its financial support.
Work has already started on planning the 2009 event. If you would like to help or would like to book a space for a stall, please phone Kay Whitton on 07764 686420.

Publish a Bramford Directory (Project A6).
The Bramford Directory was delivered to every household in the parish in 2006. There is also an electronic version, last updated in August 2007, Bramforddirectory3 available via the link at the top of this page. The Directory consists of key contact details for many businesses and organisations, including sports and social activities in the village and we hope you will find it a useful aid to knowing what goes on. Our thanks go to the Parish Council for part funding this publication, and to Mid Suffolk District Council who donated a £1000 grant towards the costs.

We are issuing a new version this summer. If you would like to add your details or change the information in the Directory, please call Pauline Young on 01473 747761.

Tree Screening Landmark House (Agilent Building) (Project A15).

Unfortunately we are unable to progress this project. An expert has advised the Action Group that the geography of the area prevents adequate screening at a reasonable cost. So for now, this project is on hold. If you have any good ideas, please let a member of the Action Group know.

Set up a Credit Union (Project A21) and Set up a Time Bank (Project A22).
A public meeting was held on 9th November 2006 to progress these two projects. Despite previously advertising the event in the Community News, no Bramford residents attended. We presume from this that the strength of feeling for a Credit Union and a Time Bank in the village is not as strong as was indicated in the Parish Plan and therefore the Action Group will not be taking any further action on either topic.

If you have any comments or ideas on the plan then the Action Group would be pleased to hear from you. Please write to or email the Parish Clerk at: pc@bramford.suffolk.gov.uk who will forward any correspondence.
