Male Victims
In recent studies of domestic
violence victims 85% were women, however 8% were men attacked
by women and 7% were men attacked by men.
Men have exactly the same rights as
women to be safe in their own homes and are protected by
exactly the same laws as women.
The information on this website will
be of use to anyone who experiences domestic violence or abuse
irrespective of gender. Of all services available to assist
victims only refuges are exclusively for women.
Unfortunately research has shown
that several men who come forward as victims have been at one
time perpetrators of violence and abuse - this makes it even
harder for genuine male victims to seek/get support.
