Welcome to the website of the newly formed Bridge Street Allotment Association.

Following a successful meeting at The George PH Hadleigh, Suffolk, on the 17th Oct. 2007 it was agreed to set up an Association to include Bridge Street & Toppesfield Gardens allotment holders, and other interested Leisure Gardeners.
A committee was formed with Louise Carpenter as Chair, Jane Haylock as Secretary, Brian Dicks as Treasurer, and committee members of Gill Riddle, John Druce, Rob Andrew, Valerie Barber and Ron Jenkins.

A constitution was put together to formalize the Association and further it was agreed to affiliate to the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners.
The objectives of the organisation are :-
· to promote the interests of all members in gardening activities;
· to take joint action for the benefit of all members;
· to conduct negotiations with the Hadleigh Town Council on behalf of members;
· to obtain a supply of seeds, fertilizers, tools and other horticulture equipment on behalf of members;
· to take action to protect members against damage, trespass and theft;
· to arrange lectures, demonstrations, competitions and other social events;
· to co-operate with other gardening associations in matters of mutual interest
· On our website we will try to keep all allotment holders up to date with relevant town news, provide a forum for discussion and give helpful hints for timely gardening jobs.
We now have a notice board (thanks to Tim Marriot) for Association use.
We have had a work party that cleared the rubble mound from inside the gate, to give more car park space.
We are researching funding for a storage container and a composting loo.
In liaison with the Town Council Services manager;
· Contractors have been arranged to cut the main paths monthly through the summer.
· Unlet plots have been cleared prior to new tenants taking them on.
· The Town Council has donated a plot for the Association to use.
We have access to well rotted manure but are still trying to find someone with a large trailer to transport it.
We are expecting another delivery of free “greentop” soil improver soon, and will keep you posted
On behalf of members we have responded to the Tesco Planning Application that seeks to take away some of our allotments.
