Bucklesham Football Club Sponsored by
Edge Consult
The Bucklesham Football Club Committee meets roughly
every other month. The teams home fixtures are played at the
Bucklesham Stadium, located off Levington Lane on Sunday mornings,
kickoff is at 10:15am.
On Sunday 18th December Bucklesham sponsored by EDGE
CONSULT took on high flying Felixstowe 03. On a very cold frosty
morning it was Bucklesham who settled the quickest and opened the
scoring after 15 mins when a cross from Tyler deceived the visiting
keeper and nestled in the back of the net. Felixstowe equalised 10
mins later when a defensive error allowed the forward to shoot
beyond the despairing dive of Small. Bucklesham restored the lead
just before half time when Habbindeux shot home from 16 yards. The
second half started with once again Bucklesham in the ascendency
and increased their lead when Tyler charged down an attempted
clearance from the keeper and coolly slotted the ball home.
Bucklesham had a bit of a scare when Felixstowe pulled a goal
back with yet another defensive mistake. Bucklesham restored
there 2 goal lead when Tyler scored his 3rd goal of the game from
the penalty spot. Then with just minutes remaining Shelley scored
from just inside the box with fine left foot volley to make the
final score 5-2. In Buckleshams favour this was our final game of
the year and possibly the best football they have played
all season. Our next game is on Sunday the 8th Jan 2012.
Finally may I wish all of you who take time to read my reports a
very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR Dave.
First of all may I wish those of you who read my reports a very
happy New Year. Bucklesham FC sponsored by EDGE CONSULT were back
in action today after two week break against Felixstowe Harpers and
looking for back to back wins. As it was it was Bucklesham who
started brightly but could not find a way past the Harpers
defence.Until midway through the half for Bucklesham to score and
it was Habbondeux shooting past the visitors keeper. Bucklesham
should have increased there lead when McInnes hit the bar when it
looked easier to score, with no further goals it was Bucklesham who
lead at halftime 1-0. The second half started as much as the first
finished with Bucklesham on the front foot. It was the visitor
who scored next when a corner was flapped at by keeper Small.
Bucklesham restored their lead when an in swinging corner from
Habbindeux found its way into the net. Then Tett sealed all 3
points for Bucklesham when he slid the ball home past the advancing
keeper to make the final score 3-1 to Bucklesham. Next Sunday
Bucklesham travel to Holbrook Swan looking to avenge the 1-0 defeat
earlier in the season.
Bucklesham FC sponsored by EDGE CONSULT travelled to
Holbrook looking to extend there unbeaten run to 3 games and also
to avenge the home game defeat earlier in the season. On a
cloudy but cold morning Bucklesham settled down and were soon
playing some very good football but could not break down a very
resolute and experienced Holbrook defence. In fairness
Buckleshams defence was just as good as they did not allow the
Holbrook forwards any time or space. It was not till 10 mins before
halftime that keeper Small had to make a save. Bucklesham had
a couple of half chances but could not finish, at the half
time whistle it was goal less 0-0. The second half started with
once again both sets of defences outstanding. Bucklesham had a
good penalty appeal turned down when Habbindeux went down following
a clumsy challenge. The deadlock was broken midway through the half
and it was Holbrook who took the lead when their forward slipped
the ball past Small. Try as they might Bucklesham could not get the
equaliser although they had another penalty appeal waved away when
a player appeared to be pushed in the back.It was not to be and it
was Holbrook who took all 3 points with a 1-0 win.
Bucklesham now have a 2 week break, our next game is Feb 5th
when we are at home to Kitcheners Reserves ko 10-15pm.
Training is every Thursday night at the sports field
starting at 7.30pm.

Monthly
meetings
We meet at Bucklesham village hall at 7.30pm on
the third Wednesday in every month, except June and July when we go
out somewhere. We usually have a speaker when we meet in the
village hall, except in March (our birthday meeting) and December
when we have our Christmas meal. Tea and coffee is available at
every meeting at the village hall and we have a rota for making
these.
Our birthday meeting in March is open to any
ladies in the village and to other WIs. We usually do something a
little different to the regular monthly meeting. Last year we held
a fashion show with clothes from the Edinburgh Woollen Mill
modelled by our members. We hold a raffle and provide food and
refreshments for everyone.
We hold a raffle when we meet in the village
hall, as we need to raise extra funds to see us through each year.
We also have a trading stall, where members can sell things they
make or produce, with the WI taking ten per cent of the
proceeds.
During the summer months, we meet at 6.30pm so we
can go for a walk around the village before our meeting. This is
something we started to do when we took part in the national “WI
Tri” in 2010, a competition to get members out walking, cycling and
swimming to improve fitness levels. We enjoyed our walks so much,
that we’ve carried them on ever since.
We welcome new members both from within our
villages and outside. Around half our members actually live outside
the villages of Bucklesham, Brightwell and Foxhall.

Bucklesham, Brightwell and Foxhall WI
The speaker we had booked for our September
meeting was unable to attend due to a recent family bereavement.
One of our members, Stella McCall, very kindly agreed to step in at
the last minute to talk to us about her life living in various
different countries. Her husband’s work has taken him to many
places in the world, including countries in Africa and Asia. The
family therefore had to adapt to different cultures and ways of
life almost every year for 30 years. Not for the
faint-hearted!
We held our AGM in November and welcomed a new
committee member, Stella McCall. We also welcomed a new member to
our WI – Margaret Burn. The AGM was followed by Chris Parfitt
talking about “the long, thin country”. He told us about his trip
to Chile, starting in the north of the country and ending up at
Tierra del Fuego at the southern tip of South America. Chile is a
very interesting country as it contains many different types of
landscape ranging from desert to glaciers. As usual, Chris’ talk
was very interesting and informative.
We had our Christmas meal at our December
meeting. As on previous occasions, this was cooked for us in the
village hall by Mrs Fisher and her colleagues. Most of our members
attended as well as several guests. We held a raffle, with most of
the prizes donated by our members. Our secretary also collected
presents for people in a homeless unit in Ipswich, something our
members contribute to every
year.
