About Building Regulations

Building Regulations are national standards which cover health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings as well as ensuring reasonable provision is made for the conservation of fuel and power.

Local Authority Building Control Teams advise on and approve any building works taking place. Building Control staff work closely with staff from Local Authority Planning Departments to give appropriate advice to those planning the work.
