CAMPSEA ASHE VILLAGE HALL

The fun afternoon, to celebrate the purchase of the recreation ground for the village, was a great success and £302. 00 was raised for the village hall.
Thank you to everyone who took part on the day-whether you were the ones chucking wellies or slaving away in the kitchen/ running the stalls. The village Hall Committee would also like to thank all of those who made a donation to the hall funds. As you can see from the photo's it was a fun (if a little hot) afternoon.
Several people asked if the children's competition will run again next year, and whethter there could be a class for adults to have a go at the miniature garden! We'll keep you posted.

                                   VILLAGE HALL REFURBISHMENT

Mr Giles Peabody architect from Mullins,Dowse and Partners of Woodbridge gave one hours free consultation as part of RIBA Architect in House scheme, the village Hall gave a donation of £25.00 to Shelter as part of the scheme.

Mr Peabody suggested:-
Converting one of the fire exits at the side of the stage as a storage area and using the storage room as a meeting room. The ceiling could have plaster boarding and the existing window be glazed.

Disabled toilet: he suggested the front porch is extended to the right side of the existing front door and the new toilet be installed there, it needs to be 2.5metres by 1.5 metres.

Fabric and Building:- It is unlikely the ceiling would be strong enough to support plaster boarding to improve insulation. It is not worth cladding the internal walls and he was worried about how cladding could be fixed without damaging the concrete walls.

His advice was to find the cheapest option to everything!

Heating:- the heaters could be moved lower and it may help to look into thermostat controls.

Toilets:- should technically have two handbasins.

Kitchen:- should have a sink for hand washing.

Roof:- Start to worry when it starts leaking he has no idea how long it will last!

Changing Room facilities:- he suggested building a link corridor from the fire exits to a freestanding changing area.
He would not advise any building onto the existing building.

THE COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE YOUR OPINION ON THIS.
