PARISH COUNCIL PLANNING MEETING - LINSTEAD MAGNA - JULY 7

Here is an unofficial summary of the Parish Council Meeting Discussion/Open Forum:

Following The Chairman's, Graham Downing, introduction and condemnation of misuse of council print-outs the proposers of the planning application were invited to speak,
Mr Len Gooch from The Paul Robinson Partnership outlined the proposals for a rural holiday park with mainly park homes and a smaller amount of touring caravans, approx. three stables would form a "bring your horse on holiday " element of the proposal. Mr Gooch said that all the plans had been formulated in consultation with the local authority and modified to suit.
The Chairman then invited comment and questions from the approx 40 members of the
public present and an energetic exchange commenced raising the following points;
What would be the stocking density?
When did the site gain planning permission for equestrian use?
What would be the peak occupancy?
What would be the amount of water discharged?
Had the district surveyor considered the impact on the B1123 in terms of increased traffic?
Will there be light and noise pollution?
Would dogs be allowed and kept under control?
What would prevent residential occupancy as opposed to holiday use?
What entertainment would be available to holidaymakers?
Mr Gooch answered the questions and additional information was given by Councillor Stephen Burroughes. At the end of the public session there remained considerable disquiet in the public section about the size of the proposed development, its potential for producing too great a burden of drainage water and the general increase in traffic on the B1123.
The public meeting was then closed for councillors to consider the proposals. A comprehensive and well researched opinion was given by Councillor Stephen Burroughes to start the session and further carefully considered points were made by the Vice-Chairman, Janet Heath, with additional points made by most of the other councillors. The conclusion was that the size of the proposal was disproportionate to the locality and that the councillors were not in favour.

ANNUAL PARISHES' MEETING

This meeting was held at Linstead Village Hall on 12th May.  It was good to see so many villagers in attendance and a wide ranging series of matters were raised and responded to ParishMeetingredby Parish Councillors, Stephen Burroughes (elected member of Suffolk Coastal Council), Colin Hart (elected member of Suffolk County Council) and Mark Bryant our community policeman.  Maybe the thoughtful offering of a glass of wine prior to the start of the meeting helped lubricate the vocal chords! Items such as the lack of community policing, speeding along the B1123, fly tipping, signposting etc. indicated the concern of villagers.

The photo shows a section of the audience, together with parish councillors listening to Colin Hart.
