Rotaract is an organisation for 18-30 year olds with clubs
throughout the world. It enables members to meet people, try new
activities, and make a difference in their local community.
Deben Rotaract
Deben Rotaract club meets up regularly (generally on Tuesday
evenings) for community, charity and social events. Amongst our
ranks we have (and have had) students, doctors, nurses,
radiographers, commodity traders, IT experts, retailers,
pharmacists, secretaries and many other professions.
Deben Rotaract has members from Suffolk - mainly the Ipswich and
Woodbridge areas, but we have had members from all over Suffolk and
North Essex.
Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for local
charities including
- the RSPCA at Martlesham,
- Macmillan Cancer Relief and
- Cedar House Trust in Woodbridge.
Besides raising money we've helped the Mencap Blue Sky Appeal
and the Ipswich Samaritans when they moved their charity shop.
We've also answered the telephones for Comic Relief. We've
collected money at Music on the green, and at the Aldeburgh
Carnival. We've helped out at Kid's day out and at the Disabled
sports day at Northgate sports centre.
You don't have to volunteer much of your time to make a real
difference, and meet new
people.
