The Horticultural Society has origins as far back as 1895 and continues to be a popular activity within the small village of East Bergholt and its environs.  The main aim of the Society [EBHS] is to promote gardening in East Bergholt by staging an Annual Show in September together with other related events: talks, a plant sale and visits to places of gardening interest. EBHS is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and endeavours to follow their objectives where practical.

Over recent years EBHS has supported the village junior school’s gardening projects with some Committee Members providing hands-on help with the school’s ‘Garden Team’ as well as donating money and equipment.  Support has also been offered to the High School in con­nection with any of their gardening-related projects.  By doing this it is hoped to inspire the youngsters of today to become the gardeners of tomorrow.
