EyesWrite is a non profit making group of volunteers whose aim is to facilitate the staging of new locally written stage plays. We are based in Eye and over the past five years we have organised several play readings, performed over thirty short stage plays at our annual September Festival and read the same number of radio plays at our radio play evenings. On top of these we have staged three full length plays, four one act plays and four murder mystery plays and each year we are striving to do more.

A number of the radio plays were broadcast on Bury St Edmunds Hospital Radio and Future Radio Norwich and one of the short plays was performed at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds as a rehearsed reading.

We have support from many sources including guidance from a professional stage director living in Eye and we are aided by Mid Suffolk County Council.

We try to encourage new writers and actors of all ages and hope to organise course in Eye in the near future. One of the best ways to develop as a writer is to join a writer's group and we hope that in the future we will be in a position to set up such a group locally. Many of the plays submitted to us are from members of the Theatre Royal Writers Group in Bury St Edmunds.

We are not a drama group and there are no fees to pay, nor do we have a membership of writers, directors and actors but seek help for all our events from the local community, primarily though not exclusively from writer's groups and amateur drama groups. For all of our productions we are constantly looking for volunteers to help both on and off stage to direct, act, set building, stage manage and etc.

To date we have worked with The Debenham Players, Harleston Players, The Rough Cast Theatre Company, The Open Space Theatre Company and used volunteer actors from The Mustard Theatre Company, Wortham and Redgrave Theatre Group (WARTS), Stowmarket Operatic and Drama Society (SODS),The Mere Players and The Mouth To Mouth Theatre Group (The Cut Theatre, Halesworth).

Occasionally we work alone using the name Random Act Theatre Company.

Each year we invite local writers to submit short radio and stage scripts for possible inclusion in our annual events. To find out more about our activities or to volunteer your help email Alan or Joan Huckle at mailto:eyeswrite@aagh.fsnet.co.uk
