About the Parish

The Parish of Flempton cum Hengrave was founded in 1589.

The Parish of Flempton cum Hengrave incorporates the two villages of Hengrave and Flempton which are situated on the A1101 Mildenhall Road approximately five miles to the east of historic Bury St Edmunds.

The usually resident population in Flempton is 156 people and 145 people in Hengrave.

The housing stock is relatively mixed though there are a number of very old, pretty, mostly grade two listed thatched properties in both villages.

As well as housing the headquarters of EERA  (East of England Regional Assembly) in Flempton, the parish is also home to the parkland and historic tudor mansion house, Hengrave Hall.
