The Fressingfield Neighbourhood Watch is a volunteer
organisation set up to assist the residents of the parish and the
Suffolk Constabulary. (The Watch acts as a go-between).
Northern central Suffolk is one of the lowest crime areas is the
United Kingdom. The main aim of the Neighbourhood Watch is to
ensure that it remains so.
However, some crime is still committed in the area. More will
occur if residents become complacent. The Watch provides frequent
updates on crime trends in the area through the medium of
the Five Alive magazine.
A dedicated team of Local Contacts has been formed so that each
and every resident can contact the Watch on a personal, neighbour
to neighbour basis. A complete list of Local Contacts and their
areas of responsibility is available by clicking on the box at the
top of this page. If your address is not listed please contact one
of the scheme co-ordinators direct.
As part of the Eye based Mid Suffolk North Safer Neighbourhood
Scheme, Fressingfield has a dedicated Community Police Officer. She
is PC 1330 Amy Yeldham. She is supported by Police
Constable Office PCSO 3172 Steven Long. They can be contacted at
midsuffnorth.snt@suffolk.pnn.police.uk
or at the police operations control centre, on 01473 613500.
Meetings of the Watch are held on the second Thursday of every
other month and all residents of Fressingfield are cordially
invited to attend. See
What's on for
details.
The Suffolk Constabulary are very supportive of Neighbourhood
Watch schemes in all respects except finance. The local Watch has
to obtain funding, or raise finance, to cover all its
operations. It is enthusiastically supported by, but not part of,
Fressingfield Parish Council.
The joint co-ordinators of the Fressingfield Neighbourhood Watch
are Robin Rampley and Peter Vincent. Their contact telephone
numbers can be found at the top of this article. Please feel free
to contact them, or any of the Local Contacts, on any matter
relating to crime, security, policing or allied
subjects. IN ALL CASES OF
EMERGENCY CONTACT THE POLICE ON –

NOTICES - Jan 2011
1. The parish of Fressingfield continues to be relatively crime
free area. In fact the number of reported crimes has fallen over
the past year from an already low base. We hope this situation will
continue. However, vigilance is always required and please be
prepared to pass on details of suspicious behaviour to the police
or to your local neighbourhood watch contact.
2. There have recently been a number of thefts from sheds and
outbuildings in the area; so please unsure these are kept locked
and secure.
3. Speeding is still a problem through the village, and the
number of Police speed checks has been increased. As a local
resident please take care and keep to speed limits and make sure
that you are not the one caught.
4. The price of domestic heating oil is currently very high.
This has led to it becoming an attractive target for thieves at
both domestic properties and business premises. Ensure that your
oil tank is secure and check the contents regularly.
5. The Police recommend security marking valuable items. Please
ask the Mid Suffolk North Safer Neighbourhood Team at
midsuffnorth.snt@suffolk.pnn.police.uk
, Tel: 01473 613500
6. In one or two recent incidents the victim of a crime has
stated that they have not informed the police because of a view
that the police will not be interested and will take no useful
action. We are all entitled to our own views - but remember this:
The police certainly cannot take action if they are not made aware
of the problem. It only takes a couple of minutes to telephone
01473 613500 (The Suffolk Police Operations Room) or
Email m
idsuffnorth.snt@suffolk.pnn.police.uk and report a
crime.
7. As always dial 999 in emergency situations. If you inform the
FNW as well, then we will ensure that the police do take action.
(We watch the police as well as the area)!
8. The Suffolk Police operate an Intelligence Hotline on 01284
774029. Any person can call this number with information that could
be of assistance to them. It is an answering machine service that
is checked daily. This means that you can leave anonymous messages
if you so desire. Or, if you leave your contact details, they will
call you back later. This number should NOT be used for emergency
calls.
9. We all enjoy a quiet walk around the village and many of us take
our dogs with us. Please ensure that your dog is kept under control
at all times and causes no upset to other persons or animals. Do
not allow your dog to foul and please dispose of your waste in your
own black bin. When you are at home, please ensure that your dog is
in a secure area and is not free to wander around the village.
10. Fressingfield Neighbourhood Watch meetings are held every
other month. In 2011 meetings will take place on February
10th, April 14th, June 9th, August
11th, October 13th and December
8th. The Sports and Social Club is the venue and 7.30pm
is the time. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in the
discussions.
11. New members of Fressingfield Neighbourhood Watch are always
welcome. If you would like to contribute your time to help maintain
a safe and crime free community please contact Robin on 01379586573
or Peter on 01379586725.
12. Keep watching…
