Fressingfield Garden Festival
The Fressingfield Garden Festival, held over the week end of
18th and 19th June, was a great success
despite the poor weather. The Open Gardens were magnificent
and highly acclaimed; a tribute to the hard work and skill of all
the gardeners. The Children's Trail, the Market Place, the Living
Village Display and famous Festival Food were also hugely
appreciated and well supported. A profit in excess of £2000 meant
that worthwhile donations have been presented to beneficiaries; the
Scout Group, Brownies, Mucky Duckies, Playtime, Messy Chuch, Little
Stars and The Primary School.
A DVD showing the beautiful gardens and other attractions has
been produced and copies at £4 each are available: contact Keith
Dobson on 01379 586221 or email keith.a.dobson @btinternet.com, to
place an order.
The Garden Festival would not have been so successful without
the hard work and support of so many people in the village and the
organisers want say to all of them and our visitors a huge thank
you for your invaluable contribution.
Memories of Fressingfield
Exhibition
Fressingfield Local History and Archive
Group
Back by popular demand - Memories of Fressingfield,
an exhibition of fascinating historical photographs and other
memorabilia from the village archives was held on
Saturday 28 & Sunday 29
August in the Sancroft Hall. Thank you
to everyone who helped and to all who came and made it such a
success once again.
Scout Camp - Summer 2010

August saw the annual 1st Fress. Scout and Explorer Expedition to
the Peak District. 21 members of the group attended the
three day expedition. Explorers conquerored Kinder Scout walking
from Hayfield to Edale. Other activities included evening
hikes and a visit to the world famous Blue John Caverns in the Vale
of Hope.
Fressingfield Croquet Club

Stephen Willis and James Thorp were the very skilful winners of
Fressingfield Croquet Club's members' Doubles
Tournament on the Fox and Goose Green on Saturday 17th July.
Fressingfield Fête
Once again the people of Fressingfield showed great support for a
local event, with many people attending the village fête on 3 July.
As before, we were rewarded with a beautiful summer’s day that
added to the proceedings.
Everything appeared to go according to plan during the day;
we even managed to squeeze in some extra races, due to their
popularity —and not a PlayStation in sight! It was great to see so
much local input and such a range of talent at the stalls and in
the marquees. We must also thank Amelia Reynolds of BBC East, who
grew up in Fressingfield, for opening the fête.
The evening was well attended with excellent music provided by
Walkway, who managed to entertain all ages
with a varied set, ranging from Clapton, Pink Floyd, and The
Rolling Stones through to The Kings of Leon, Ian Dury
and the B52s! Appetites were filled with the excellent hog
roast.The aim of this year’s
fête was that it should be self
funding so that we can continue holding, and add to, this
popular event. Money raised on the day has covered expenses
and should leave a small amount surplus for funding the next
one. A big thanks to all that contributed so generously, as
we will also be providing a donation to St John
Ambulance.
As a village, we should be proud that we have the
resources to stage, contribute to, support and enjoy such an event.
Thanks to everyone who made it possible.
See you next time! Paul Clark, Fressingfield Fête
Treasurer
Inter-Village Games
This year Fressingfield entered the inter-village
games for the first time in 4 years.
I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who represented
Fressingfield in the games
We had numerous teams in the event which included darts, crib,
rounders, a quiz night, table tennis and bowls, finishing on the
Sunday afternoon with a fun afternoon of children’s and adults'
races and events
We came 6th overall and more importantly beat our local
rivals, Weybread!!!
This was excellent and, once again, I would like to thank
everyone who took part.
There are many other events throughout the inter-village games
week and if anyone would like to take part or assist next year,
please give me a call.
You never know you may have fun!!!!

Fressingfield - Mid Suffolk Village of
the Year 2008

Prue Rush, chairman of Fressingfield parish council, receiving a
plaque and cheque in honour of the village being declared
Mid-Suffolk Village of the Year for 2008. Fressingfield came
third in the Suffolk competition. We have been awarded a
total of £450 and the parish council welcomes suggestions as to how
we could use the money. Please put your suggestions in
the box in Fressingfield Stores or contact a member of
the parish council.
Thank you to all those members of groups who turned out for the
judging and to all villagers who keep the village so
presentable. Your time and effort is highly
appreciated.
The presentation was made by Councillor Poppy Robinson, of
Mid-Suffolk District Council, during the Music Festival.
