
Fressingfield had three windmills: all post mills, two with
roundhouses, the third open trestle. The oldest, Chippenhall Green,
was in existence by 1783 and was the last to be demolished, in
1936. Its site remains a feature on the common. The other mills
were in New street. The open trestle 'Algars Mill' had a
very short life 1884-1895; whilst the other, which was in use by
1826 was demolished in
1929.
