Take care how you help

What NOT to be doing.

A number of people are keen to be DOING something about the gardens.  You will see on the Latest News and Newsletter page about the Weeding session which we had, and future gardening Saturdays.

However it is vital that NOBODY just goes and does some weeding - or other work for that matter -  on their own, without joining the Friends.
There are issues of Health & Safety and insurance involved, even when harmless-looking activities are being undertaken, nowadays.

The reason for not even doing a bit of unscheduled weeding is that many beds have been weeded and then treated to prevent serious new growth of weeds.  If this treatment is disturbed by well meaning people "having a go, to help out", the careful planning of their maintenance by Suffolk Coastal Services  will be thrown out of order.

Many of the sort of people who want to do this will not be online and see this warning, but for those who are, it is vital that any action by anybody is taken in  consultation and co-operation with the Suffolk Coastal Services Team and the Friends of Felixstowe Seafront Gardens

We would ask members to discourage unauthorised people from doing anything without asking.
