The original Parish Plan included two main areas of concern; the
provision of affordable housing and the inadequacy of the
current Play Area on the village green.
Even though the Parish Council does not own any land and any
building would be either a private venture by a local landowner, a
generous donation of land from the same or some form of compulsory
purchase, a questionaire was sent out to every household in the
village requesting information as to future housing requirements
and whether this should be owned, rented or some form of
joint-venture scheme. Unfortunately, from the small response (only
12 returns!) to this questionaire, only one houehold recorded the
potential need for housing within the next five years.
Regarding the request for play equipment, the Parish Council is
pleased to announce that the existing two swings have been
augmented by the addition of a climbing tower with steps, slide,
firemans pole, extension scramble net, climbing rope and picnic
table below, springboard, "spring whale" seat, toadstool seats and
new Phoenix seats. A new safety surface throughout has
been installed.
Supplementary to this, and thanks to the money raised
previously by the village, there are two new 5-a-side
goalposts and net for the adjacent football pitch and a
netball/basketball hoop located between the Millenium Beacon and
the play area.
The following picture shows the centrepiece of equipment
now installed.

Full funding of this project has now been finalised and our
grateful thanks go to Awards for All, Adnams Brewery, together with
some generous donations from village residents, all of which have
made this addition to the village achievable.
The Village Plan was re-visited in March 2010, but as the
circumstances of the Village have not changed since the original
Plan was conceived, i.e. no likelyhood of businesses moving into he
area, the only employer (The Business Centre) applying to turn
the site into a housing development and still no suitable land for
building affordable housing, it was decided not to persue a second
survey.
