Warning! Lead thefts - Mid Suffolk have been
experiencing lead thefts over the last couple of months in Needham
market and surrounding areas. Mainly lead flashing from
windows and doors and roofs and it appears that in some cases
wheelie bins have been used to gain access to the lead.
Please be vigilant and call the Police if you have information
regarding the offenders.

Barham Councillors
A complete list of all Parish Councillors, together with contact
numbers, is posted on the notice boards at Barham Green and outside
the Co-op Food Store, as well as on the website. The boards are
regularly updated with useful and helpful information on services
and activities.
A reminder to local Organisations that at this time of year the
Parish Council has to consider what its Precept requirement is for
the next financial year commencing April 2012. Any requests
from local organisations for financial assistance towards a
particular project must be made now in order for it to be
considered. If you have such a request, please let the
Clerk know as soon as you read this, so that it can be discussed at
the Finance meeting to be held shortly.

Telephone Scam
Warning
Suffolk Police
are warning members of the public to remain vigilant after a number
of people have been in contact in relation to a telephone
scam.
Residents have received a cold call from someone offering a
personal loan. Often they will claim to be from the Ministry
of Finance, Money Saving Expert or a loan company but in all
instances they are not genuine.
The caller will ask for the victim to send them a fee in the form
of a Ukash voucher code by email or over the telephone.
The company will then contact the victim on further occasions
asking for more fees but inevitably the loan never
arrives. 21/11/11

Suffolk County
Council
Suffolk County Council launched its
budget consultation on 12 August which runs until 12
December. The Council is already looking at how
it can save money through staffing re-structures and reducing back
office costs. They will continue to look for further
savings in these areas, but this may not be enough given the scale
of savings needed. To help meet the challenge, they want to
hear views on the services which matter most to you.
They would also like to hear about ideas and suggestions on how the
Council could save money.
Please visit the website at:
http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/WeAreListening
and fill in the survey. Copies are also
available through Libraries or you can answer the survey questions
over the phone on 0845 6031842 (Monday - Friday 8.30am -
5pm). 29/09/11.

Launch of new Non Emergency
Number
While 999 is a
well-recognised number used to report emergencies, the 2010 British
Crime Survey found that only half of the public know howto contact
their local police if they want to talk to them about less urgent
issues. As a result, the Home Office and the
Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) are introducing the
101 non-emergency number. The
new number is designed to offer the public across England and Wales
one easy way to contact their local police force to report
non-emergency crimes and disorder or to speak to their local police
officers.
