Welcome to the Barham, Claydon and Gt Blakenham Website
There is a unique and underrated link between our three Parishes –
Claydon and Barham are geographically inextricably linked,
therefore many issues and community facilities are common to both
Parishes. Great Blakenham is a valued neighbour and the planning
developments attaching to the former Blue Circle site have brought
an even closer working relationship.
Please browse these pages and if you have any feedback please
email.

Claydon & Barham
Recreation Ground Committee
In the October and November issues of ‘In
Touch’ an urgent appeal was made for new members to join the
Recreation Ground Committee and to attend the meeting held on
16th November. Unfortunately no new people went to the
meeting or have volunteered to join the committee
since. As a result there is now a real concern that the
present committee may have to be disbanded. If this happens
the Parish Council would need to consider whether the recreation
ground could remain open. Obviously this would be a
huge loss to the community as this facility is used regularly by
many people from Claydon and Barham. Therefore
residents, whether regular users or not, are asked to consider if
they wish to maintain this facility and if so whether they are
prepared to give up just a small amount of time each month to help
oversee its operation. Please contact Alan Baldry for
further information, e-mail:

Impacts of Goverment Cuts
A number of local services and facilities will be affected by the
reduction in council funding. Here are just a few that affect our
local area,
Barham Picnic site, the future of our own
nature
reserve at
Rede Wood, the closure of the Park and Ride
at
Bury Road, Library
services .
The threats are real, the solutions are not easy, but rest assured
if nothing is said or done these facilities will disappear. The
hope is that in some instances volenteers, ie you, will help to run
or manage the facilities in some way. Please take some time to look
at the various links and make sure your views are expressed to your
parish councillors. 23/09/11
