Misty
is about 13.2hh and was bought for £100 from Ipswich, his
owners found that they could no longer look after him. He has
been at the sanctuary for about 10 years, and although we
have tried to rehome him but he does not seem to settle.
So he will remain at the sanctuary, he is about 11 years
old.
Pepe is
about 5hh and was given to the sanctuary as her owners were looking
for a home for her. Unfortunately she was born with a foot
deformity effecting both her front feet. As you can see
from the photos she walks on her knuckles, she copes very well and
we are very pleased with our farrier and the progress he has
made to help her. She can run around the paddock where she
could not
before. She is about 30 years old.
Midge is
about 8hh and was bought from his owners in Felixstowe. He is
disabled in both of his back legs and therefore can not be rehomed.
He has also been Misty's companion for the last 10 years and would
probably find it difficult to readjust. He is about 11 years
old.
We also share our home with two Yorkshire Terriers,
Beauty and Bonnie and a Chihuahua,
called Candy.
Beauty was the runt of the
litter and her owners did not know what to do and were
thinking of disposing of her. So the sanctuary took her in,
she is now 16 years old and is diabetic and has to
be given insulin twice daily. She is now
partial blind and deaf but she still enjoys life! She could
not be rehomed but she lives with us at home with Bonnie and
Candy.
Bonnie was bought to us by her
owner offering her for sale because she could not look after
her anymore. She had recieved a bang on the head at some point
and is now blind in one eye and being treating at Cambridge
Small Animal Hospital. However she leads a normal life and
everyone who meets her fall in love with her! Due to her
condition she can not be rehomed. She is now 3 years old.
Candy was
living with an elderly couple in a flat and they could not
really look after her so we took her in as a family pet! She has a
heart condition and also has trouble with her kidneys. She is now
17 years old, but still enjoys her walks and FOOD!!!
The
cats, all called 'Kitty' because we can not
tell them apart, were found in the barn living wild with their
mother. We tried to rescue them but the mother took them away,
we left food out for them regularly and eventually we caught
one which we rehomed after being neutered. We did manage to
trap the rest of them and get them neutered, with help from
the Felixstowe Cats Protection League. They now live "Free" at
the Sanctuary and are regulary seen around the
paddock especially when food is being
served.
