Great Barton Women's Institute, which has approximately 40 members, normally meet of the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall. When members pay their annual subscription in January they receive a copy of the year's forth coming programme  of speakers. Visitors are allowed to attend up to 3 meetings a year without being a member and payment of the annual subscription. A copy of the yearly  programme is also published on the W.I. Notice Board outside the Post Office in the Street. 

As well as speakers the W.I. organise outings, fund raising events, walks, plant sales and a Christmas Fare. Great Barton W.I. also have a table tennis team, a darts team and a scrabble team. There is also W.I. Luncheon club which lunches at local public houses in the area.
