Many homes in and around Great
Barton are about to get a whole lot greener. On Friday 20th
November 60 residents collected, from the Village Hall, free energy
saving products, worth nearly £9,000 supplied under a "Greener
Homes DIY Scheme". The initiative, which is being piloted by
St. Edmundsbury Borough Council, is part of Suffolk County
Council's - Creating the Greenest County initiative, working
in conjunction with Parish Councils and the Energy Saving
Trust.
The project has
been funded by the East of England Regional
Assemble.
The list of energy saving and eco products included regular loft
insulation, sheep's wool loft insulation, draught proofing kits,
water butts, pipe insulation, hot water cylinder jackets,
solid wall insulation, reflective radiator panels and energy
usage monitors. Residents are responsible for the
installation.
Future events are being planned
for:-
Saturday 23rd January 10.00 -1.00pm Fornham All Saints Community
Centre
and
Saturday 13th February 10.00 - 1.00pm Great Whelnetham Village
