East of England Regional Assembly

Dear members and colleagues

I have recently commenced a review of EERA’s Regional Social Strategy, which is due for completion next summer.

It was agreed by the Social Inclusion Panel on 23 October 2006 that this should be a ‘light touch’ review, focusing primarily on an overhaul of the strategy’s delivery mechanisms and action plan. The basic vision, aims and objectives of the current strategy remain relevant and will not be reviewed.

In addition to input from the multi-agency review Steering Group and others, I am keen to provide opportunities for the voluntary and community sector to feed into the review process, and comment on what they think the Social Strategy’s priorities should be. I would particularly welcome ideas for developing the action plan to have greater impact and influence at a sub-regional and local level.

I hope you are able to participate in the review process, either as individuals or on behalf of your organisations, and attach the following for your information:

a short review briefing
a review feedback questionnaire

Further information about the Regional Social Strategy, including downloadable copies of the Strategy, can be found at  www.eera.gov.uk/socialstrategy

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the Regional Social Strategy or the review process.

Best wishes,
