The main hall has a sprung maple floor with underfloor heating
which does away with dangerous projections of radiators. The
lighting is flicker-free and suitable for sports such as badminton.
The hall is big enough for a full size badminton court and its
height is over the 6.10m minimum for club play. Around 50
spectators can be accomodated on the stage and more in the
gallery.
The hall can be used for sports and activities such as Carpet
bowls, Table tennis, Badminton, Ta Chi, Yoga, Volleyball, aerobics,
Ballroom dancing, Keep-fit, you-name-it.........
The Management Committee is open to suggestions from clubs and
individuals to extend the range of sports facilities available.
Equipment for several sports is available for hire if required -
just ask.
Changing rooms with showers are available for people using the
main hall sports facilities in addition to the team facilities
below.
The sports field has a full size and a five-a-side football
pitch. Other activites could be accommodated by arrangement. Two
team changing rooms with showers are accessible directly from the
field via a "boot lobby" without passing through dry parts of the
hall. A referee and disabled changing rooms are available. These
facilities are in addition to those for indoor sports. The
management team is always open to suggestions for extending the use
of the playing field.
The new main hall, approached through an attractive arched
entrance, has underfloor heating and variable lighting to set the
mood of your event. It has a seating capacity of 120 at tables,
with an extra "top table" possible on the stage. The furniture has
been chosen for comfort and is of a high standard. There is even a
"Minstrels' Gallery" to accommodate your string quartet or other
musical accompaniment. Our close proximity to the attractive
mediaeval church of St. Peter's is convenient for local
weddings.
A large, professionally equipped kitchen immediately adjacent to
the main hall will provide your caterers with tip-top facilities.
There is also a well-stocked bar/lounge which is available to help
make your event go well. Exclusive cloakroom facilities are also
available on request.
The main hall has a large stage with a proscenium arch. Dressing
rooms are adjacent to the stage, and the stage door is convenient
for delivery of equipment and props without entering the hall. The
hall has been acoustically treated to provide a suitable
reverberation time and does not suffer from unpleasant echoes. The
seating has been selected for comfort and can be linked, complying
with safety regulations. An inductive loop system is provided for
the hard of hearing.
The capacity of the hall is 200 seated on the main floor with
extra seating for 40 in the gallery. The gallery is wired to the
stage for full audio and lighting control. The main lighting in the
hall can be dimmed. Public address equipment can be provided if
required.
The Boughton Room is also available for hire either separately
or in conjunction with other facilities in the community centre. It
has a capacity for 60 people seated lecture style or 40 at tables.
There is an inductive loop system fitted in this room for the hard
of hearing.
This light and airy room
has an attractive wooden floor with underfloor heating and is
pleasantly decorated. It is suitable for club evenings,
parties, AGMs and smaller lectures or as a breakout room for
meetings being held in the main hall. Cloakroom facilities are
available and the large and well-equipped kitchen is
nearby.
The lounge is also available for hire. This airy room can be
hired for club events of a more informal nature. The seating
capacity is similar to the Boughton Room, but the furniture is more
relaxing. The licensed bar can be made available and the kitchen
can be used.
The possibilites for sports and other activities at the Centre
are endless. With it's position less than five miles from Ipswich
and with easy access from the more rural areas of Suffolk, it is
ideally placed for your event.
The management team will be pleased to hear your ideas - from a
five-day conference to an afternoon bring-and-buy sale - from your
organisation's AGM to a beetle drive - they will do their best to
accommodate you.
