If you would like to join ISIA please click here for a membership form:  ISIA Membership form

The membership year runs from April 1st till March 31st.

ISIA is a not for profit community group and was formed in 1975 and is run by an Executive Committee (who are all volunteers and give their time up for no fee) who work towards the charitable objectives (see about us for more details).

The group is financed in two ways: by membership fees and fundraising. All the money raised goes back in to running the organisation and providing events.

Our membership rules are:

1) Membership of the Charity shall be open to:

(i) Individuals (over the age of 18) who are interested in furthering the work of the Charity and who have paid any annual subscription laid down from time to time by the Executive Committee, and

(ii) any body corporate or unincorporated association which is interested in furthering the Charity’s work and has paid any annual subscription (any such body being called in this constitution a “member organisation”).

(2) Every member shall have one vote.

(3) Each member organisation shall appoint an individual to represent and to vote on its behalf at meetings of the Charity; and may appoint an alternate to replace its appointed representative at any meeting of the Charity if the appointed representative is unable to attend.

(4) The Executive Committee may unanimously and for the good reason terminate the membership of any individual or member organisation: Provided that the individual concerned or the appointed representative of the member organisation concerned (as the case may be) shall have the right to be heard by the Executive Committee, accompanied by a friend, before a final decision is made.

What you can do as a member to help:

  • Volunteer to help at events - You don’t need special skills just enthusiasm and commitment.Training is provided.
  • Become an Executive Committee member - We meet approximately once a month to plan future activities and oversee the running of the organisation according to English Charity Law. The Elections for the Executive Committee will be held in May at the ISIA Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Become a Sub Group member - Large events like the Indian Summer Mela require a lot of helping hands to organise. The Sub Groups meet up to plan and organise these events in detail. You don’t need special skills just enthusiasm and commitment. Training is provided.
