There are 3 types of membership:
- Full Members - Persons of Hindu faith
- Associate Memebrs - Non-Hindus interested in Hindu
religion
- Honorary Members - Distinguished people in any part of the
world known for their interest in and knowledge of Hindu
religion.
All members shall be either Annual Members or Life Members. Only
Full Members have voting rights.
Condition of membership
- All members must be approved by the Executive Committee and be
over 18 (eighteen) years of age.
- Every application for membership must be signed by the
applicant.
- On joining the Samaj, each new member shall be deemed to have
agreed to be bound by the rules and by-laws stated in this
document.
- A member who fails to abide by the rules and bylaws shall be
asked to resign from the Samaj. In such circumstances the Executive
Committee shall state concisely to the member, the grounds on which
he/she is being asked to resign. A member shall be given every
opportunity to state his/her views. The final decision to terminate
an individual’s membership shall lie with the trustees
- No individual member shall take any public action or make any
public announcement, in the Name of the Samaj OR otherwise do
anything directly or indirectly to represent any proposal, action
or statement of facts or opinion on Samaj’s behalf unless
authorised by the Executive Committee.
- The Executive Committee shall alone make announcements and
publications in the name of the Samaj.
Subscription Fees
Annual members of the Samaj shall pay such subscription each
year as determined at the Annual General Meeting.
Full and Associate annual members may become Life Members by
payment of such sums or as the Samaj may adopt at the Annual
General Meeting
Where payment of Life Membership fee is being made by
instalments must be paid within 12 months.
The Annual subscription is payable after election as a member
and thereafter a renewal subscription shall be due on Ist January
of each year.
A member whose subscription is in arrears for a period of 6
months, may be given 2 (two) week’s notice, by the treasurer,
requesting payment and if the arrears are not paid at the expiry of
the period, the Executive Committee may remove the member from the
roll of members.
If a member makes an initial payment of more than the ordinary
Subscription to become a Life member of the Samaj, and then fails
to pay the balance within 12 months of the initial payment, the
Samaj may without his/her consent apply enough to pay the annual
subscription for the member for the last 12 months and treat the
rest as a donation to the Samaj.
Any member in the course of becoming a Life Member, shall be
required to pay his/her arrears within 12-month period starting
from date of application for becoming the Life Member.
