Fresh Start Project:

The project, Fresh Start, also involves the Shaw Trust.

Fresh Start is aimed at female entrepreneurs and particularly those in minority ethnic groups and will help improve their business skills and create a number of new businesses in the area. The main purpose of the project is to offer advice, support and guidance in establishing a new business and to give ongoing support as the business progresses. The programme is restricted to females in Suffolk.

They can expect a package of business support which includes a business idea research day, a business skills and planning course, training in assertiveness, confidence building and motivational skills. Training materials will be available in some different languages and translators may be on hand for courses.

Jessica Moore's role as the local Business Advisor for NWES, one of the leading Enterprise agencies in the country, is to be on hand to assist the prospective entrepreneurs to actually get their business started. Please see www.nwes.org.uk for more information.

Jessica would welcome the opportunity to explain the project further and investigate how the project might be able to link into your aims so if you would like any more information please contact her on 07824 346011 or email jessica.moore@nwes.org.uk.

Fresh Start is provided to the delegates free of charge thanks to ESF Objective 3 funding, the support of Learning Skills Council, Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality and the Shaw Trust.

Annual General Meeting

Following the business AGM in June when new Trustees were elected and our annual accounts were approved by members, the second part of the AGM was held at Suffolk County Council's Endeavour House on 27 September 2006.  The Guest Speaker was Councillor Jeremy Pembroke, Leader of Suffolk County Council.  We were entertained by ghanaba arts and Ipswich Dholi's Dhol blasters (see pictures below).
The refreshments included a selection of buffet foods from Portugal, Poland, Russia, China and India.  Here are a few pictures of the event - including a few words about the Ipswich Dholis - please click on the following link IpswichDholi.doc
