About Us

Ixworth

croppedsign Ixworth is a thriving village in Suffolk. We can be easily found on the A143 between Bury St Edmunds and Diss and on the B1088 between Thetford and the A14.
We have a selection of local shops and an assortment of other vital services. These services include a Library, a Doctor's surgery, a Post Office and both a Fire Station and a Police Station. Our children are also very well provided for with two schools within the village.

We have a large village hall in the centre of the village, which is the meeting place for several different groups including the over 60s, the playgroup, a keep-fit class and even a yoga group. It also houses the village's Library.
Behind the hall is the Jiggens Memorial Playing Field. This field lives up to its name with a children's play area, a basketball hoop and some football pitches.

They range from two takeaways, two pubs, a restaurant and a coffee shop to two clothes shops, two motor garages, one of which also provides car sales, a beauty salon, a hairdressers, a traditional butcher and, of course, our village stores!

Ixworth Thorpe is a small village about a mile North of Ixworth, along the B1088. Surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside and thriving farmland, this village is home to All Saint's Church.

thorpechurch All Saint's Church is situated on the hill on the South end of the village. With its 19th century pews, 18th century pulpits, 17th century altar and its nationally famous carved wooden bench ends from the 15th century, this church retains its beauty despite a hundred years of constant use. It also retains its distinctive red brick Tudor porch and it is hailed as one of the best in Suffolk.
