You can now
find information regarding walks in Kedington and Suffolk on our
Useful Information page.
November 2009 Mr. Richard Hobbs was
co-opted on to the Kedington Parish Council at the October meeting.
Richard's details will appear on this website at a later date. In
the meantime we welcome him and look forward to his contribution at
future meetings.
At the recent village public meeting, the proposal
to extend the footpath on the western side of Silver
Sreet received a majority NO vote. As no new
compromise plans have been received by the Parsih Council, it was
agreed to shelve the plan for the foreseeable future. Those
suggestions that were sent in were very similar to previous plans
that were rejected by Suffolk County Council on safety
grounds.
October 2009 Some of you may have read
Mr. Nic Rumsey's article in the Haverhill Echo recently regarding
the building of additional homes in Haverhill. Mr. Rumsey will be
attending the October parish council meeting and will have the
opportunity to put his views forward to those who wish to
listen.
September 2009
As if the threat of 2500 homes being built between here and
Haverhill isn't bad enough, I now hear that there are plans to put
a new link road from the Sturmer roundabout, across the Haverhill
golf course, into 'the new village' and out on to the A143 Bury
Road. It would seem that this link road will cross Dedham Vale and
Stour Valley land, which if true, is simply unacceptable. Kedington
Parish Council is trying to get as much information on this
proposal as possible.
St. Edmundsbury planners have
now stated that the new road will not go via the golf course.
However, they can't yet tell us where it will
go. (02/09/09)
August 2009
The next stage in the Local Development Framework consultation is
now underway. Despite objections from the Parish Council and
others, OPTION 3 (land between Kedngton and Haverhill) was
selected as the preferred area to place another 2500 homes by
2021. Despite promises of 'buffer zones' the Planners are as yet
unable to decide the size of the zones.
In the Site Allocations and Options consultation, two additional
sites have been submitted in Kedington. The first is land beside
Church Walk and the other, land behind Keeper's Cottage on the
Sturmer Road.
Inclusion of these sites does not mean that they are approved by
the Borough Council, just that the are up for discussion. This
consultation ends at 5.00pm on 07 October 2009. If you wish to
support or oppose the adoption of OPTION 3 and/or the 3 sites
submitted in Kedington, your response can be submitted on-line
at www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk or
paper copies can be obtained from the Planning Team on 01284
757368 or by email at
LDF@stedsbc.gov.uk
Additionally, a drop-in session will be held at the Kedington
British Legion hall on 10 September between 15.30 and 19.30, no
appointment necessary.
A Planning Surgery will also be held in Haverhill on 02
September between 18.30 and 20.00. If you wish to attend this event
you must book by ringing 01284 757368
REMEMBER, any decision reached as a result of this final
consultation will affect Kedington for the next 20 years. THIS
WILL BE YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO INFLUENCE THOSE DECISIONS. IT WILL
BE NO GOOD COMPLAINING WHEN THE BUILDING STARTS
July 2009 Did you
know that recent studies in Suffolk indicate that transport is
responsible for around half of greenhouse gas emissions from rural
households? With that in mind Suffolk County Council (SCC) is
looking at ways to provide accessible and sustainable transport
links within Suffolk. To gather enough information on the sort of
journeys people are making now and would like to make in the
future, SCC will be sending out a short survey to households in the
rural areas. Please take this opportunity to improve our local
transport links.
September
2008 The Suffolk PCT has decided that the
Kedington surgery should remain open and the situation be reviewed
again in 12 months.
If you see anyone vandalising
property in the village, please contact 999. If you wish to leave
