Restoration news.
To help raise funds for restoration works to the Hall a 100 Club
has been launched.
You pay £1.00 per month, payable in advance on a quarterly basis,
for a number to be entered in the monthly draw for cash prizes.
You must pay before your number can be entered in each draw,
the draw being made on the last Friday of each month at 10.30am
during the morning coffee club.
The next quarter for the draw commences on 1st January 2008, so why
not come along on a Friday for a cup of coffee and buy your number
or numbers (you may have as many numbers as you like).
If you are unable to come on a Friday morning then contact Mrs
Jenny Bridson on 01728 602582 who will pleased to sell you your
numbers.
Work on the renovation of the roof has now resumed after a
significant setback that involved some major renovation work around
the north facing dormer window. We are hoping that the work will be
complete before the worst of the winter weather sets in. It is
hoped to shortly begin decoration work in the main hall.
The Kelsale Carnival organised by the Village Hall Management
Committee was very successful. There was a certain amount of gloom
on the morning of the Carnival as stalls were set up in heavy rain.
However we need not have worried as the skies cleared about half an
hour before the start and we enjoyed a warm sunny afternoon. The
fancy dress procession was brilliant with many inventive costumes
being worn which gave our judges a difficult time in deciding which
should be offered the prize. We are very grateful for all who
turned up to support us and make the afternoon so enjoyable. We do
not have a final figure for the amount raised but at the moment the
profit stands at £850.00.
The following weekend after the Carnival an Open Gardens event
was held at Curlew Green, as despite some indifferent weather
£270.00 was raised towards Hall funds.
We have also received a donation of £5,000 from Kelsale-cum-Carlton
Parish Council and another for just over £300 from the Kelsale
Carpet Bowl Club for which we are very greatful.
Our next event will be a music evening on Saturday
4th October commencing at 7.30pm. The evening will
feature three “acts”. John Gibson on piano, Two's
Company and The Riversiders.
John Gibson is the organist at Aldeburgh Parish Church and is
the only organist I have heard who has been able to make a church
organ sound like bagpipes. John is a very talented musician and a
noted jazz musician. He will be playing not only jazz but also some
modern, classical and traditional items.
The Riversiders need little introduction to many in Kelsale,
they have played their folk music at our last two Carnivals and
also at Music evenings. We look forward to their return.
The evening will conclude with some audience participation in an
Old Tyme Song session.
Tickets are £3.00 on the door including refreshments, profits
going to Village Hall Funds.
