Kersey Newsletter
Kersey Newsletter is sponsored and
distributed by St Mary’s Church. It is produced by an independent
editorial committee and contains village news, details of local
church services, parish council and parochial church meeting
reports, as well as information about organisations and events in
the village. Ten issues per year are published and distributed to
every household in the parish. It is financed by the church, a
grant from the parish council, voluntary contributions and
advertisements. Adverts of approx 2" high cost £4/per insertion and
approx 4" high £8/insertion.

The Tree Warden advises the Parish Council on any matters
concerning trees. The Tree Warden has information about possible
grants available to organisations wishing to plant trees. All
trees, including fruit trees, are protected in the Conservation
Area which covers the central part of Kersey. Before any work, such
as lopping or felling, is carried out owners must contact Babergh
for advice, the Tree Warden can put you in touch with the right
department.

There are no regular public bus services passing through
Kersey.
Hadleigh Community Transport, Suffolk Links Cosford & Suffolk
Links Brett
These provide a pre booked service to Hadleigh, Bildeston and
Lavenham and for connections on other bus services for onward
travel.
The Suffolk Links Cosford & Suffolk Links Brett
services operate between 7am and 7pm from Monday to Saturday.
Suffolk Links is a Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service which
provides connections to bus and train links in rural areas and
can also take passengers to and from local villages when
required. You can arrange for the bus to pick up from an
agreed point and take you where you want to go within the defined
area.
All journeys are pre-booked up to one week in advance with at least
24 hours notice. The current fare (as at April 2011) to
Hadleigh is £1.20 single or £2 return, bus passes can be used after
9.30am.

Mobile Library
The mobile library (Orwell 1 Mobile Library Route 3) visits Vale
Lane, Kersey on alternate Wednesdays 2.25pm - 2.35pm.

satellite connection allows the mobile library to offer all the
facilities of a branch library. You can order books, spoken word,
CDs and DVDs on the mobile library, or over your home internet
connection and collect them from the mobile library or a branch
library. You can return books to either the mobile library or a
branch library. There is a branch library in Hadleigh.
