Draft minutes of the Management Committee
meeting
held on 5 November 2008.
The Village Hall AGM was held on Tuesday 8th April
2008.
You can read the
draft minutes and see the
accounts for
the year ended 31 December 2007.

The Village
Hall is situated
in The Street, in the centre
of Kettleburgh.
It is available for hire
at reasonable costs.
It is now being used more often
and the diary is filling up, so if you would like to book an
event, please do so well in advance, to avoid being
disappointed.
|
|
You may have noticed that the
outside of the Village Hall has now been decorated and is in good
condition for the Winter months ahead. |
 |
|
 |
If you have been inside the hall
recently, you will also have seen the refurbished floor. Roger Hyde
of Halstead, Essex undertook this work, which involved banging in
some 250 nails and then sanding and sealing the floor to give it a
super new finish.
|
|
Please respect the new floor and
do not drag chairs and tables over it. Plans for internal
decoration, new tables and upgrading of the Ladies and Gents
toilets are being considered. The management committee has set up a
fortnightly rota to maintain the cleanliness of the hall, but it
should be stressed that users of the hall are expected to leave it
in a clean and tidy condition. |

The Village Hall is looked after by a management committee:
History
In 1924 an agreement was made between Henry George Walne of
Kettleburgh Hall to rent a piece of his land to Reverend R Davies
of Brandeston, John Goddard of Kettleburgh (farmer) and Herbert
Hill of Kettleburgh (Innkeeper).
Henry George Walne agreed to rent the piece of waste land,
"thirty yards long and eleven yards wide", for the
term of thirty years. The rent was to be one shilling a year
payable yearly on the sixth day of April. The tenants were to erect
a room to be known as "The Kettleburgh Parish Room" and this was to
be used as a reading room or for concerts and dancing or "any
other kind of amusement or parochial purposes".
Today this same building is known as Kettleburgh Village Hall
and used for many purposes, including scout meetings, quiz nights,
harvest suppers, the annual produce show, film evenings and various
village get-togethers.
If you would like to hire the hall, I'm afraid it costs a little
more than one shilling a year, but is still very reasonable!

Coffee Mornings in the Village Hall
Come along on the first Friday of
each month between 10 a.m and 12 noon.
You will be welcomed with coffee, conversation and home made
produce. At the December Coffee Morning there will also be a
Table Top Sale.
If you have anything such as unwanted presents, junk from the
attic, home produce or anything to sell that would be useful to
someone else, bring it along and 'buy' a table top (money to go to
the Village Hall) to display and hopefully sell for yourself.
Unsold goods must be removed at the end of the Coffee
Morning.
Local produce available as
usual.
The next event will be on 5th
December 2008.
