BELOW ARE RULES FOR ABSOLUTE HORSE & MARRIAGES CLASSES AT THE JUNE SHOW


ABSOLUTE HORSE MAGAZINE ALLROUNDER COMPETITION RULES & CONDITIONS

THIS COMPETITION AIMS TO FIND A FIRST CLASS ALLROUNDER AND WILL BE

JUDGED ON PRESENTATION, TURNOUT, MANNERS, AND WAY OF GOING.

ABSOLUTE HORSE MAGAZINE ALLROUNDER COMPETITION PONY QUALIFIER: Open to mares or geldings, 4 years old and over,

off lead rein, not exceeding 148cms. Entries will be required to jump a small course of not less than three fences; height not to exceed

2’0”. The two highest placed (not already qualified) entries up to 6th place will qualify for the Final. A qualification card must be signed

by the Judge in the ring on the day.

RULES

• Snaffle bridles ONLY must be worn.

• Hard hats must be worn to the current BSI Standard with chin strap fastened.

• Spurs, boots and bandages must not be worn.

• Show canes/whips not to exceed 30” (75cms).

• Judge’s decision on the day is final and any issues including height queries may be dealt with at their discretion.

• Entries will be required to perform an individual show in addition to jumping a course of small fences.

• Although you may qualify more than one horse or pony, you will only be allowed to ride one in either class in the Finals. A

substitute rider can be used for the second animal qualified.

• Once competitors have entered the ring no change of saddlery will be permitted and entries will only be allowed to leave the ring

at the discretion of the Judge.

• Competitors enter at own risk.

• All other rules and conditions will apply as per the host show.

JUDGING CRITERIA

TURNOUT:

20 marks

Each entry will be judged on the

condition, well being and

standard of presentation of the

horse. It is essential to have well

fitting and well maintained tack,

and the Judge will consider the

correctness and suitability of the

riding attire.

SHOW (2 minutes):

30 marks

Each entry will be asked to

perform an individual show to

include trot, canter and lengthen

strides. Additional elements such

as rein back, may be included at

your discretion. The Judges will be

assessing the entry’s rhythm,

balance, movement and level of

training.

MANNERS:

20 marks

Each entry will be judged on its

manners, suitability and potential

as a true allrounder.

Showmanship and etiquette of

the rider will be included.

JUMPING:

30 marks

A small course of fences: for

ponies maximum 2’0”; for horses

maximum 2’3”. Penalties (at the

Judge’s discretion) will apply for

refusal/s or knock down/s.



MARRIAGES RIDING CLUB PONY OF THE YEAR 2008

RULES

1. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY

2. NO LEAD REINS

3. PONIES 14.2 AND UNDER, 4YRS OLD & OVER

4. RIDERS 16 YRS AND UNDER ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW. IF THEY ATTAIN THEIR 17TH BIRTHDAY BEFORE THE FINAL THEY ARE STILL ELIGIBLE FOR IT

5. PONIES WILL BE JUDGED MAINLY ON PERFORMANCE AND OBEDIENCE. CONFIRMATION/ACTION NOT PARAMOUNT BUT TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION.

6. COMPETIORS WILL BE ASKED TO JUMP AT LEAST THREE FENCES, A RUSTIC, A COLOURED AND ONE WITH A BACK POLE. MINIMUM OF 1’9’’

7. COMPETITORS WILL BE ASKED TO PERFORM SOME TASK OF OBEDIENCE/VERSATILITY SUCH AS MOUNTING AND DISMOUNTING AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGE.

8.SMALLER PONIES MAY NOT HAVE THE JUMPS LOWERED

9.THE FIRST 4 PONIES QUALIFY FOR THE REGIONAL FINAL.

10. IF ANY OF THE FIRST THREE PONIES HAS ALREADY QUALIFIED FOR THAT AREA, QUALIFICATION WILL GO DOWN THE LINE.

15 IF A QUALIFIED PONY IS SOLD BEFORE THE FINAL THE NEW RIDER CAN ENTER PROVIDED HE/SHE MEETS THE QUALIFYING REQUIRMENTS.

16. IF A RIDER QUALIFIES MORE THAN ONE PONY, THEY CAN BE ENTERED WITH A DIFFERENT RIDER PROVIDED THEY MEET THE QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS. (i.e. 16YRS & UNDER)

17. THE FIRST TEN PONIES AT EACH AREA FINAL QUALIFY FOR THE GRAND FINAL AT PONIES UK SOUTHERN SHOW IN MAY 2009. GRAND FINALISTS WILL BE NOTIFIED AND TOLD HOW TO ENTER IN THE SPRING PRIOR TO THE SHOW.
