L.P.C.A. was founded in 1997. Our aim was to find better
facilities for the young people in the south of
Stowmarket. Affordable
housing estates do not leave enough leisure areas for young people
to play in back gardens because they are not big enough. This
creates no other options to release their energy .Parents and young
people came together to form a group, determined to get things
changed.
That was how Lavenham Park Community Association was formed. Our
motto is together we can achieve our aims!
L.P.C.A have adopted a constitution and charitable status to
achieve our aims.
Since we started 9 years ago, we have achieved our S.A.F.E child
protection accreditations, First Aid, insurances, that are
necessary to work with young people to work together in a safe
happy environment, and to socially interact with the other young
people in the community.
Our group welcomes any young person that has disabilities or
problems. Nobody is excluded, and it is our responsibility to see
that they come together as one, because it is important that they
all live in the same community. This has been a great achievement
for us and has made a difference. All our helpers are
volunteers and all go through the standard procedure and
checks.
So what have achieved since we started? We have a good working
relationship with two local schools, Combs Ford Primary and Combs
Ford Middle School and their respective headmasters Mr Shoote and
Mr Crissell
Our young people have been presented with The Mid-Suffolk high
achievement award and also won the Suffolk High Sheriffs award for
reducing crime levels in our area. These included visiting
vulnerable people and developing their awareness to safety
issues.
L.P.C.A had success with football team and Sports club on a
Saturday morning at Combs Middle School.
Our Youth Club continues to go from strength to strength with a
current membership of over 70.
