Within
each unit of the school children follow a carefully structured
scheme that ensures a broad and balanced coverage of topics.
Some themes continue throughout the school.
An example of this is the study of "contrasts" in Geography: "How
does Felixstowe compare with a similar population centre in
Europe?" In addition to some familiar topics ("The Weather",
"Romans in Britain"...) you will also find new areas on our
curriculum - The Benin Civilisation, Life in an Indian Village.
Local studies and visits are particularly valuable in Geography,
good use being made of the schools Environmental Area and of local
sites such as the Deben Estuary. As for History, we have gathered
some excellent sources of local evidence. These include eye-witness
accounts of the 1953 floods. Both subjects are enriched by a
programme of local visits.
